Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC)

PPVC is a construction method whereby modules made up of multiple units with internal finishes, fixtures and fittings are manufactured in factories, and are then transported to work site for installation in a Lego-like manner. PPVC method has been adopted for construction of residential, hostel, hotel, dormitory buildings so far. PPVC made of normal concrete has been the most preferred material although steel in combined with other materials are also possible. PPVC made of concrete is heavier however the maximum weight of modules can be coordinated at early design stage. The lifting capacity at site and logistics of transportation has always been a major considering factor.

Characteristic The basic geometry can be demarcated in plan layout to observe the number of modules required to make up a residence unit. The precast carcass shall be produced at factory, transported to secondary yard for pre-finishing process before finally delivered to site for erection.
Types Types of modules are generally made of the followings; Master bedroom with inbuilt bathroom, Secondary bedroom with inbuilt bathroom, Living – dining room and kitchen
Width If the width is kept less than 3.4m , escort police would not be required during transportation
Height If the height is kept less than 4.5m(inclusive truck height), escort police would not be required during transportation
Length The best to keep within 12m.
Conduits All necessary mechanical, electrical and plumbing accessories shall be installed before concreting the PPVC carcass
